ANSPROF is the ultimate application performance analysis tool for the IBM System i5.

There are quite a few well-known performance tools for the System i5, such as Performance Collector, Performance Explorer, Database monitor, Job Watcher - each covering its own problem area. ANSPROF helps bring all of these tools together in order to answer two sacramental questions:

- What should be done to the operating system to make the application run faster?
- How should the application code be improved to make it run faster?

ANSPROF can help analyze and improve OPM/ILE applications, as well as applications written in Java, including applications designed to execute in the IBM WebSphere environment.

Since all different types of performance data can be requested using a single command and collected into a single library, ANSPROF is ideal for remote application performance analysis, i.e. analysis conducted by a person having no online access to the server used to run the application.

ANSPROF is packaged as the i5/OS licensed program 4F44ANS and, starting from the current release, licensed for the number of processors allocated to the partition where it is installed.
